The movie itself set soley upon a high school senior looking to be accepted for a scholorship that would allow him to pay for schooling at Georgetown, but when "The Girl Next Door" (Danielle, Elisha Cuthbert) moves in his life is twisted and all of that is thrown into jeopardy. Matthew (Emile Hirsch) begins to see Danielle when in a strange turn of events his friend (Chris Marquette) shows him a porn video of Danielle. Things then go crazy and Daneille goes back to the porn industry she once denied. Matthew is then set on doing everything he can to get the girl he loves.
The movie plays out in a funny fashion, off and on comedy and drama mix you up and don't allow you to think one way or an other. The begining is choppy and you don't get a feel for the movies sense of style until about half way through. Some jokes fall flat but most are to the point. While the love between Matthew and Danielle is believable the fall of Danielle back into the porn industry is not. It seems to come out of nowhere and isn't shown in great light.
For me the movie over plays high school (again) and fails to accomplish all that it strives for. A attempt at the Porky's of the 21st century falls short. The movies comedic saving graces are the performances of Mathew (Hirsch) and Eli (Marquette), undoubtably the funniest person in the movie.
